Ask when a ring fits but needs to be slightly larger or smaller, or when buying a ring as a gift. Most gold and silver rings can be resized by a skilled jeweller. Some designs (eternity rings) cannot.
'Ridimensionare' or 'aggiustare la misura' = to resize. 'Potete' (can you — plural) addresses the jeweller's shop. Resizing involves cutting the band and adding or removing metal, then rejoining. It is a standard service in Italian jewellery shops.

Resizing is extremely common in Italian jewellery shops because rings are often bought as gifts without knowing the exact size. Italian jewellers can typically resize a gold ring in 24–48 hours. Silver is easier and faster. Platinum and titanium are harder to resize.
