What is the total?
to-TA-le — three syllables, stress on second.
At the end of the meal when you receive the bill and want to confirm the total amount.
'Quant'è' = how much is it (contraction of 'quanto è'). 'In totale' = in total. Together they form the standard way to ask for the total bill. In casual pizzerias this may be said at the bar rather than at the table.
