Nota cultural

Tipping ('lasciare la mancia') at Italian hotels is not expected but is warmly received. The most appreciated tip is one left directly in the room for the housekeeper — €1–€2 per night in an envelope marked 'cameriera' (housekeeper). Front desk staff are not usually tipped in Italy.
